USA KARATE BRINGS "THE K" TO NATIONALS
The United States Karate Federation will actively support the WKF Olympic Bid during USA National Championships (June 12-15).
The USA National Karate Championships and US Team Trials will be held for four days in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ten tatami will be filled with competitors from all over the USA and numerous countries, including Denmark, Brazil, Czech Republic, Puerto Rico, Argentina, England, Scotland, Venezuela and others. Overall attendance is expected to exceed all previous records with an estimated 1,500 individual competitors.
One of the most important aspects of the Nationals is the Team Trials for the US Karate Team. Elite athletes from all over the country have trained intensely vying for coveted spots on the team that will represent the USA at this year’s WKF Championships in Paris. Many present team members will also be defending their positions on both the Junior and Senior teams in preparation for the opportunity to compete at the World Championships.
This year’s Nationals will be aired live over an internet stream for the first time ever. All four days of competition, every division, every match will be broadcast over the world wide web. USA Karate entered into an agreement with Watchme Sports to have the entire Championships aired through a live feed, as well as, available for viewing later as an archive. For a small subscription fee, viewers can watch the division they desire by selecting it from a menu for up to a year from the event. Viewers also have the ability to have instant replay on the live feed, including slow motion playback of the action. Sunday’s finals will be covered by several cameras with professional switching and commentary provided for the most exciting action to wrap up the event. Viewers simply log in to www.usakaratelive.com, select the event and either a one-day pass, the entire four days or just the finals, submit a credit card for payment and then enjoy the show.
